AOH’s 13,500 square foot medical office serves as a primary infusion center in a cancer-focused medical office building. A primary goal for the project was to provide both staff and patients with regular access to daylight; particular emphasis was placed on the location of the infusion center, to afford the best views of the hospital’s adjacent healing garden.
Wanting to achieve a sense of continuity with the building’s public spaces, some of the building’s finishes were incorporated into AOH’s suite. The cornerstones of the finish palette are a rough stone slate and wood ceilings. These two warm, natural materials greet patients arriving from the elevators and are carried throughout the suite at key intersections. Muted natural greys and browns in a variety of textures strengthen the palette, with accents of pale yellow and blue.
A water feature and organic shapes were introduced to enhance the sense of nature, including a serpentine wall in the infusion center and curved ceiling elements in the waiting area and lobby. The overall effect sought to create a soothing spa-like atmosphere with cheerful, life-affirming touches.
