What We Do

HSC Pediatrics outpatient center is an extension to HSC’s specialty hospital in the District of Columbia that provides rehabilitation and transitional care to children and young adults with complex medical problems and disabilities.  This new location in Rockville, Maryland, comprised of 11,000 square feet, was created to offer physical, occupational and behavioral therapy, as well as assistive technology evaluation and training.

Interplan worked closely with HSC Pediatrics to create a vibrant space that would complement their existing locations in Washington, DC and Maryland.  Bright accent clouds and floor patterns are found throughout the therapy and clinic spaces, creating a fun environment for the patients.  Special consideration was taken in designing a space that was adaptive and accessible to all patients and would support all of the therapy services provided.  This included designing areas for sensory swings, a rock climbing wall and a workshop for assistive technologies. Being a LEED building, green materials were used to promote the health and wellbeing of the patients. Furniture throughout the space was provided by Lines Furniture.
